RIP Alex

It is a sad day in the fashion community.  We all shed a silent tear when we heard of McQueen's tragic death this morning.  He was a visionary.  He was legendary.  There will never be anyone like him.  Even in his unfortunately short career as a designer, he has given more to the fashion industry then any daydreaming talent can ever wish to give.  It is truly a sad moment but the best thing to do is to celebrate the gifts he has given us.

In my eyes, J.Crew can do no wrong. Every year, they push the boundaries on preppy and create looks that breath an air of ingenuity and effortless. I will definitely be taking trip to my local store for some beautiful foundation pieces to which to build my spring wardrobe on. So, take a look at their 2010 J.Crew collection lookbook and I dare you to not be inspired.

I love this girl's outfit! I was never a huge follower of over-the-knee boots but the grey gives this night-out shoe a casual day-time feeling. However, the combination of greys and the addition of a floral scarf just take this outfit to into the world of utter effortlessness.

While planning my New Year's outfit I had trouble deciding on a bag that completed my look. Two days before the big day I had an epiphany... NEON! I knew a shot of neon would add the just right "coolness" factor to my classic, black jumpsuit. However, I wasn't finding anything in the stores. I did find an amazing Rebecca Minkoff bag but I couldn't receive it in time. Unfortunately, (although this could be a good thing), I noticed neon exploding on the magazine pages from fashion to accessories to home decor. Once it hits the stores I will definitely be picking up some pops of love!

Beantown Weekend

Went to Boston this weekend. Yes! It was COLD! I thought I was back in Siberia. And yes, those are UGGS I'm wearing. In hindsight, I'm glad I choose comfort and warmth over style. Later that day I switched to Converse, even doubling up on socks, and 5 minutes later my feet were numb! I would have never survived the day without my lovely uggies. Unfortunately, I lost of my gloves so I spent the entire day without gloves and desperately searching for a pair that would fit my teeny hands. I finally found them at Urban Outfitters (where we discovered this very thrifty bench made out of three pieces of patio furniture... makes me want to create my own!). But all in all, I'm glad I threw my inhibitions to the wind and agreed to a spontaneous trip filled with seafood, laughter and rock and roll :)

PS: Today was my first day at my internship and it went great! Looking forward to learning all the ins and out of the business. Will be posting work outfits soon!
